WHAT IS CHRISTKINDLMARKET DES MOINES (CDM)?

Inspired by a cherished German tradition, CDM brings warmth, culture, and community together at a time of year when people are eager to gather. Since its founding in 2016, the market has grown into a signature Central Iowa event that welcomes tens of thousands of guests over two festive weekends each December.

Held outdoors at Principal Park with heated tents and covered gathering spaces, CDM offers authentic European food and drink, unique gift shopping, live music and dance, children’s activities, and time-honored traditions — all free and open to the public.
