Information and Policies

For the health, safety and enjoyment of all guests, Christkindlmarket Des Moines (CDM) has established the following rules:

If you, or someone in your family or party is not feeling well or is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or you have been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, please do not enter the Festival grounds.

All visitors are highly encouraged to wear masks at the market when not actively eating and drinking.

Because social distancing may be difficult in our enclosed areas (KinderKorner, Yuletide Hall, An der Weihnachtsecke), visitors are highly recommended to wear masks, especially those who are unvaccinated or have a compromised immune system.

Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing whenever possible.

Please respect the work of our vendors – Ask before snapping a photo!

By entering the Festival grounds, guest expressly grants the Festival and its partners the right to use your image or likeness, or your child’s image or likeness, in any promotional or advertising materials, or in any live or recorded transmission of the Festival.

No outside beverages are allowed within the Festival site. Revenue from on-site beverage sales assist the Festival in remaining an admission-free event.

Alcoholic beverages are sold within the Festival site to patrons 21-years and older presenting a valid identification. State laws and regulations require that alcoholic beverages purchased at the Festival remain on-site. On-site security will ask you to dispose of any alcoholic beverages before you exit or enter.

State of Iowa law prohibits smoking inside any structure, dining area or entertainment area on the Festival grounds.

Unauthorized solicitation or distribution of fliers is not allowed on the Festival site. Vendors who are not contracted with the Festival are not allowed to sell or distribute merchandise or materials on the Festival site.

Buskers and/or entertainers who are not contracted with the Festival are not permitted.

Bikes, skateboards, roller blades, and large signs or placards are prohibited on-site. Please walk your bike through the Festival site.

Be kind to your pets. Leave them at home when you visit the Festival if it’s too cold. Pets must be on a short leash. Festival guests may be asked to leave if they don’t have proper control of their pet and its behavior. City regulations state that service dogs are allowed on the Festival site.

The Festival reserves the right to decline admittance to anyone who violates the reasonable policies established for public safety or to restrict activities such as public access to designated areas.

All packages are subject to search.

Weapons of any kind are not allowed on the Festival site.
