Thank you to all who attended the Des Moines World Food and Music Festival and came to visit the Des Moines European Heritage Association booth. The festival was filled with food, friends, and families, and provided DMEHA and Christkindlmarket a way to get more of the public aware of our upcoming events and activities.
We had several wonderful volunteers manning the booth and passing out our informational sheets for CDM and DMEHA. Volunteers helped children make Christmas ornaments as our gift to them and we received feedback and talked to interested parties in either coming to the festival or getting our monthly newsletter. Thank you once again to everyone who attended and helped make it such a success.
We really enjoy getting out and talking about the mission of Des Moines European Heritage Association! We’ve had such a great summer visiting various farmers markets and festivals. We’d love to see you at the World Food & Music Festival this weekend! We’ll be on the west end of the Court Avenue Bridge. The 2016 80/35 Music Festival, took place July 8 and 9, and offered local organizations the opportunity to participate in the Community Village. The Community Village is a unique opportunity for area nonprofits and music organizations to connect with like-minded 80/35 festival goers through engaging activities and interactive exhibits.
We built our wooden vendor stall at the intersection of 13th Street and Grand Avenue where both children and adults could make a holiday ornament. Check out some of our pictures!

As you might have noticed from our posts lately, there is a lot to do this summer in Des Moines. We’ve already visited the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market and hosted a Dine to Donate program at Granite City. Don’t worry if you missed out. There’s still much more to come. We’ll be celebrating Christmas in July with a moonlight bike ride on July 16.
Check out the photos below from our booth at the Des Moines Arts Festival. The Prairie Meadows Community Outreach Program allows non-profit organizations to connect with the public.
