As you might have noticed from our posts lately, there is a lot to do this summer in Des Moines.
Check out the photos below from our booth at the Des Moines Arts Festival. The Prairie Meadows Community Outreach Program allows non-profit organizations to connect with the public. Both children and adults had a fun time making Lebkuchen Herzen and learning more about Des Moines European Heritage Association and Christkindlmarket Des Moines.

We have been in retail business for past 5 years and we focus on Christmas decorations. We do some trade shows throughout the county. The retail business has grown for us every year. We would like to expand more in this area. Since we live in Iowa, it is a great opportunity for us to support our community.
We reviewed on the Internet/Facebook for the past two years and we know it is going to be a great market for us.
We carry high quality acrylic/wood/resin decorations with music inside. They are a great product for the Christmas holiday. They are great gifts for the family and we have over 100 styles to choose from. Some candles that we carry are very colorful.
This is our first time to join the market and we are looking forward to it.
Parlo Pizza is a mobile food caterer/concessionaire/vendor/food truck specializing in bringing authentic Neapolitan “wood-fired” pizzas to area special events, weddings, graduations, and corporate parties. Culinary choices abound from specially selected traditional toppings and family heirloom recipes. We speak pizza!
For Christkindlmarket Des Moines we are roasting chestnuts!!!
We were inspired to get involved as a vendor at Christkindlmarket Des Moines 2018 because roasted chestnuts are a traditional holiday season fare that can be prepared perfectly in our wood fired oven.
Old world flavors… prepared old school style!
Our recollections of strolling alpine villages near our home in Rome, Italy at Christmas time, enjoying the street vendor fare of roasted chestnuts inspired us. It made us want to bring this savory, sweet delicacy to our Iowa foodie friends and fans. The sights, the aromas, the flavors…the people!
Ciao and see you all in December!

One of the best parts of living in Des Moines during the summer months is the Downtown Farmer’s Market. Is there a better way to spend a Saturday morning than grabbing a breakfast sandwich or burrito and browsing the local produce offerings? Add some great weather and live music and it can’t be beat.
The great opportunities don’t stop there. Did you know you can learn more about what’s happening in Des Moines at the Downtown Farmer’s Market? Each week the market gives non-profit and charitable organizations the opportunity to connect with the community and create awareness for their causes.
On June 2, Des Moines European Heritage Association will be at the Downtown Farmer’s Market at the community corner to share our mission with market goers. Get a preview of what the market will look like and learn more about what it takes to make a Christmas market happen. You can also sign up for our e-newsletter while you’re there.
Need more of a reason to visit us? We’ll be making Lebkuchen Herzen at our stall for people to take home. We’d love for your family to come make a memory with us downtown.
Our booth is located on the intersection of Third Street and Court Avenue, near Johnny’s Hall of Fame. Volunteers will be at the booth from 7 a.m. until noon. We hope to see you there!

We have done shows from craft shows to fairs, bridge festivals, Iowa state football and basketball, drake relays as well as state track as well as pumpkin festivals and farmers markets. We were fortunate to be invited to be part of the first Christkindlmarket. It is an outdoor festival with a festive appeal with a holiday flare with a bit of fall.
