The origins of Siegwerk date back to the 1820s. This was when, together with his brother-in-law, Christian Gottlieb Rolffs founded the retailer of manufactured goods, “Rolffs & Poensgen”, in Cologne, Germany. Rolffs and his successors concentrated on successful trends from an early stage and furthered the growth of the printing industry with many innovations. In doing so, they laid the foundations for a successful, market-leading printing ink business, which today brings color to everyday life throughout the world. In 2003, Siegwerk acquired the Des Moines-based company Color Converting, making its North American headquarters rooted in Iowa.

NB Golf Cars was founded in 1972 by the Ness Brothers (NB) from Hendricks, Minnesota.
In 1970, Omer Ness purchased a golf car after he injured his leg. The golf car made it easy for him to navigate around the golf course. Several people inquired about Ness’ golf car and eventually the idea for NB Golf Cars was born. In 1988, Omer’s son, Jim Ness, joined forces with his father to carry on the tradition of the Ness family business. NB is one of the oldest Club Car distributors in existence today.
When Omer Ness retired in 2007, the McGowan Capital Group of Sioux Falls put their faith in the NB name and became co-owners of this thriving golf car business. NB Golf has consistently grown in service and sales throughout their 40 years in business. In addition to the original Hendricks, MN store location, we have added two new stores in Des Moines, Iowa and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The 1848 Danish Windmill was brought piece by piece from Denmark in 1975 and rebuilt by community volunteers as a memorial to their strong Danish Heritage. The historic 60 foot tall windmill just completed a 2-year major restoration project and now is in working condition and turns by the wind as it once did over 170 years ago in Denmark.

As we continue to host Des Moines European Heritage Association programs and get ready to produce Christkindlmarket Des Moines 2019, we’re finding a lot of memorable moments along the way. We’re grateful to have Gail’s Photography and Designs to capture those for us as our 2019 Photography Sponsor.
Gail retired from Lifetouch Portrait Studios in June 2014. The next month, she opened her own photography business. Her subjects are usually children and families. She also designs word art that are offered in metal or in print. Her favorite part of her job is seeing families enjoying themselves and capturing moments for them to keep for generations.
Gail is looking forward to looking at the unique gifts that are offered. Her involvement with Christkindlmarket Des Moines was inspired by her Italian heritage and passion for learning about other cultures.
“I believe that learning about and understanding what other cultures have to offer is essential in our society,” Gail said.
She also encourages people interested in European heritage to get involved with Des Moines European Heritage Association and Christkindlmarket Des Moines.

Darcy Hines is the owner and graphic designer at Darcy Hines Designs. Her work focuses on typography and a clean style. She enjoys working with clients who allow her to be creative with her design choices. She often works on creating brand standards and stationary.
According to Darcy, she was motivated to get involved by the unique nature of our event.
“I love the idea of bringing such a festive and creative event to Des Moines in the months where people are normally bundled up in their houses. I think it’s a great opportunity to bring people together as families, offer them a chance to experience a culture they normally wouldn’t be able to, and breathe some light into those cold winter months with hot cider and hand-made Christmas gifts.”

Centennial Warehousing Corporation | In-Kind Sponsor for 2019
Centennial Warehousing Corporation has graciously agreed to continue to donate storage space for our wooden vendor stalls.
After working with a member of the Des Moines Woodworkers Association, we were able to rework the design so when torn down, each stall fits on a double-wide pallet which can be easily moved around the warehouse with the help of a forklift.
We have worked with Waukee High School and Johnston High School Industrial Arts Students to build our traditional wooden vendor stalls. This year we will work with Southeast Polk High School on future stalls.
